Another blast from the past!!

Got a call from a school saying that their window winding gear in the gym, had failed.
We did point out that to repair it, we would have to have "clear and unlimited access".
What we found was a class in full swing and we told to get on with it and one of the assistants would try to prevent the kids getting too close!!

Elf and Safe Tee, where were you when we needed you!! : )

Sash Window Catches

I thought I would just pop this in to the blog, to show the first of many things that we make, when items become unavailable.

There are three items on this image that we make as replicas.
This is because the original parts are no longer available.

The keep is for a Monarch Sash window.
The catch below it, was most commonly used on Kawneer sash windows.
Bottom right is a Cego made catch, that had been made for around 40 years.
The catch above that is a Schlegel Cresent Catch, which are now obsolete.

So, that may be the next one to be done.

Next time I will show some replica hinges.

March madness!

Seems like the year is flying by! March is here.

This is another true story.

Went to fix a VSS and there was some evidence that someone had been there before, although the gentleman of the house denied any knowledge of that.

The lady of the house, on returning from shopping, walked into the living room and exclaimed "at last, you have got someone in to sort that out, I told you that all that fiddling around with it was no good"

A very embarrassed husband wandered off into the kitchen!!!

Folding Openers for Windows.

Do you have any Folding Openers, for windows?

That is a question, often asked!

Yes!!
Lots of them and the link bars and the rings and the packers and the poles, in fact, we have pretty much everything!

There are Folding Openers for frames in Aluminium, Timber, Steel and uPVC.

There are Ring Over, Ring Under, Small Step, Large Step, Packers, Link Bars, Rings, the combinations available, mean that pretty much everything can be accommodated for.

They open the light to a fixed distance, they double up as a restrictor and then lock off firmly, in the closed position - what more could you want?

If you are looking for folding openers - Give us a call on 0116 2742195 - or if you prefer, you could ping us an email to sales@cavendish-hardware.co.uk or if you are feeling nostalgic, why not send it to us on a fax 0116 2461545.

Happy New Year!

Well, 2016 went by a bit swiftly!!

Happy New Year!

If you had a chuckle at the December sketch, here is the one for January.

Again, another true story - the manager sort of expected us to get all that we needed to look at, done in a matter of minutes and leave him to get on with his busy day.

Cavendish Hardware - IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!

In the words of the great Noddy Holder!!!

Well, another year has almost gone by!
We have had lots of visitors to our little blog, so if you are reading this - Hi! : )

As a bit of festive fun, I thought I would start off with "December", off a calender we produced, some years back - customers still talk about it even now!

It was sent out to repair contractors - window repair companies, etc - and all of the events are true, from my own experience.
When we had the repair company, we had 27 years of experience to draw on and in reality, I could do loads more - all true!

This one relates to a call out situation, where there had been some sort of accident on a local authority building and a small pane of glass had been broken - and I mean small!
The person on call for that building made a call on Christmas eve, late evening. . . . well, you read the caption, you'll see what I mean!!

I'll do the others as the months roll by.

They were done by a very good friend of mine, who just seems to have a natural talent for this sort of thing.

So, Happy Christmas to all out there - see you in the new year.
